Synthetic Turf  Was A Low-Maintenance & Elegant Solution
For This High-End New Orleans Home

For their modern-style home in New Orleans, the Thrashers wanted a simplistic look for their yard that was easy to maintain. They called on Colin Casey with LGD Lawn & Landscape for help.

“We worked for over a year preparing for the job with the client, listening to their goals so we could achieve their vision for the property,” says Casey. “We had to work within the confines of a neighborhood association as well as within a narrow cul-de-sac to drop material.”

LGD Lawn & Landscape spent 1.5 months on the build. The project cost for the 15,000 square feet was $65,000. A big part of the job was installing artificial turf, which was provided by SYNLawn South Louisiana.

“Artificial grass is on the rise, and we have seen a big demand for small to large installations this year,” says Casey. “One of the most appealing aspects of installing synthetic turf is that you have the look and feel of natural grass and you get to have a beautiful lawn without the ongoing expenses of maintaining natural grass.”

LGD Lawn & Landscape installed natural stone throughout the property. They planted Wintergreen Boxwoods, East Palatka Holly Trees, Mondo Grass, Burford Holly, Viburnum and Shi Shi Camellias. Plants were provided by local vendors such as Southern City Farm, Bracy’s Nursery and Doug Young Nursery. Other vendors were Gomez Pine Straw and Site Pro for materials. LGD Lawn & Landscape also installed an irrigation system by Rain Bird.

To achieve the overall look, lighting was key. Lighting by FX Luminaire highlights the beauty of the home and the new landscaping.

"We worked with Brad Landry with Cypress Construction," says Casey. "They were a great general contractor to work with and helped us out a lot to make the project seamless."

The client's home won “Construction Build of the Year,” by New Orleans Homes and Lifestyles Magazine.
